Microsoft codename ‘Redhawk’ lives… in Windows 8

I’ve refrained from posting much on the Windows 8 under-the-hood features that individuals with access to recently leaked Windows 8 builds have been unlocking as of late.

But I couldn’t hold back from mentioning one of the recently discovered tidbits, as it hearkens back to a Microsoft codename about which I wrote years ago.

Updating IE9 through Windows Update

Microsoft’s Streetside launches in Europe

In a move aimed at trying to be more competitive with Google’s StreetView mapping service, Microsoft today announced that their version entitled “Streetside” was launching across Europe.

The service, which has been around in America for some time, will once again see large cameras on the top of cars driving around European streets and mapping the locations. Microsoft began mapping out areas around London today according to the BBC, with the company starting work in major cities around Europe next month.

Office for Mac 2011 SP1 released

Microsoft delivered its first Service Pack for its 2011 Mac version of Office on Tuesday.

Office for Mac 2011 Service Pack 1 includes increased stability, security, and some new features to the suite. Microsoft says it will improve Outlook syncing support and include some performance enhancements. The update also enables calendar syncing between Outlook for Mac and Apple’s Sync Services. The feature allows users to Sync data between Outlook’s Calendar and devices such as the iPhone or iPad.
