Microsoft to preview their Windows tablet OS next week

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) will preview its Windows operating system designed for tablet computers in demonstrations planned for next week, according to three people with knowledge of the company’s plans.

The company will showcase the software’s touch-screen interface running on hardware with an Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) Tegra chip, said the people, who declined to be identified because the plans are confidential. Windows President Steven Sinofsky is scheduled to present at the All Things D conference, while Vice President Steve Guggenheimer will address the Computex show in Taipei.

Microsoft Previews Next Release of Windows Phone

Upcoming end of support: Windows Vista SP1

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) will reach the end of support on July 12, 2011. From that date onward, Microsoft will no longer provide support or free security updates for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1). In order to stay secure and continue support you must upgrade to Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Microsoft Announces New Business Features in Windows Phone 7.5

Microsoft announced a handful of new business-oriented features for the next major version of Windows Phone during Monday’s TechEd 2011 keynote address. These features will be included in a release of the mobile OS, codenamed Mango and to be branded as Windows Phone 7.5, that Microsoft hopes to ship by the end of 2011.

There are about 500 bug fixes currently planned to be fixed in this SP. Nice fact Exchange contains 20 million lines of code in C, C# and other languages.

Microsoft Apologizes for Email Glitch

After a series of glitches causes a massive email backlog, Microsoft has posted a detailed explanation and apology for the problems with the cloud-based Microsoft Exchange subscription service.

As a result of the backlog, some messages were delayed as long as nine hours, while another separate issue with Outlook Web Access raised issues with Exchange ActiveSync devices.
