We’ve been sharing updates on Windows Thin PC (WinTPC) for some time now and are excited to announce that today WinTPC reached its RTM milestone and will become generally available for download on July 1, 2011.
With the above goal in mind we created WinTPC to help customers repurpose their PCs as thin clients, thereby driving down the cost of VDI.

In a move aimed at cutting down on support call costs, Microsoft has released a malware recovery tool that boots from a CD or USB stick.
The tool, currently in beta, is called Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper, and promises to help start an infected PC and perform an offline scan to help identify and remove rootkits and other advanced malware.
Today at an AllThingsD event, Microsoft showed off their all new Windows 8 interface for tablet based PC’s, based on the metro design language we’ve seen in the Zune software as well as on Windows Phone 7. The new operating system strives to provide a experience that suits the form factor and is easy to use, unlike previous versions of Windows on tablet computers.

It appears as though the Windows 8 may include some filesystem changes after years of sticking with NTFS as the standard go-to filesystem. Discovered by ITWorld’s Sando Villinger, early builds of Windows 8 include a new filesystem driver codenamed “Protogon.”
It is unknown whether or not this new filesystem will end up replacing NTFS in the final builds of Windows 8, but “Protogon” is certainly there in the early builds that have been circulating.

This week in New York, Andy Lees introduced Windows Phone “Mango†to the world, which includes IE9 Mobile. IE9 Mobile represents a huge jump forward for us on the mobile platform, effectively unifying our underlying code base for the browser with the desktop version.
The new Windows Phone Developer Tools 7.1 Beta can be used to develop Applications for both 7.0 and 7.1 version of Windows Phone OS releases.

Citrix is a pioneer in the desktop virtualization market, and this week, the company announced its second generation XenClient and a new product called XenClient XT.
What we are taking about here is a bare metal client hypervisor, which enables the kind of desktop virtualization in which multiple virtual machines run on the PC processor without an intermediary layer.
