ANNOUNCING THE AVAILABILITY OF WINDOWS SBS 7 PREVIEW:
Microsoft is releasing to interested testers a preview test version of the next version of its Small Business Server, known as “SBS 7,†on September 21.
SBS 7 is one of three new, low-end server offerings in the Microsoft delivery pipeline. The other two are the “Vail†Windows Home Server product (which is in final test phases), and the “Aurora†hybrid cloud/on-premises small-business server, which went to testers in August. Microsoft officials originally planned to deliver the SBS 7 preview in August, but said recently it would be delayed until September.
Microsoft finalizes its latest supercomputing operating system release
Microsoft has announced immediate availability of Windows High Performance Computing (HPC) Server 2008 R2, its top-of-the line Windows Server operating system, as of September 20.
Microsoft already is working on an update to the just-released HPC 2008 R2 platform that will “allow customers to provision and manage HPC nodes in Windows Azure from within on-premises server clusters,†and is planning to demonstrate this capability at the High Performance Computing Financial Markets Conference in New York today.

Office for Mac 2011 hits RTM
Houston, we have RTM! It’s a big Friday in MacBU as we are celebrating the “Release to Manufacturing†of Office for Mac 2011. This means we’ve signed off on final testing and the product is officially getting sent on its way to production and to customers. We’ll be cranking the Microsoft ship siren and celebrating in all of our team locations (Redmond, Microsoft Silicon Valley, Beijing, Dublin and Tokyo), raising a glass to Office 2011!

By now the announcements have gone out for the Beta, been blogged about and seen in other social networking channels, so I thought I would do something a bit more in depth on this for the Springboard Blog.
A little (recent) history…
In Fall of 2009 there was a perfect storm of tools and automation to enable something I have wanted to do for some time, automate local physical-to-virtual migration of a Windows client machine and redeliver and integrate that old environment within a new Windows build using full automation.
