Windows 7 SP1 Available via WSUS

For customers with IT departments, today we are making SP1 available on the WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) catalog, which makes it available through management tools including WSUS, System Center and others. These tools make it easy for IT professionals to deploy SP1 in their environments in an automated fashion and at their own pace.

Microsoft releases Visual Studio SP1

Microsoft is releasing the first service pack for Visual studio 2010 this week, according to ZDnet. Starting today, MSDN subscribers will get access to the update and the general public will get access on March 10. Visual Studio SP1, which has been in beta since December 2010, includes improvements to developing in Silverlight 3 and 4, as well additional features that support Windows 7 based MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class) interfaces usable for Direct2D, DirectWrite, and Windows Animation. Microsoft also promises numerous bug fixes and overall improvements to responsiveness, stability, and performance.

Windows Live Mesh reaches 5 million connected devices

Facebook chat in Hotmail now available everywhere

Today, Facebook chat is available to Hotmail customers worldwide, wherever Facebook is available.

When we first announced the ability to chat with Facebook friends from Hotmail, we were only able to offer this to customers in six regions. Since then, we’ve been working with Facebook to increase availability, and a few weeks ago, we announced that the feature was available globally through Messenger.

Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate available via Automatic Update

Starting today, Monday, February 14, 2011, the Automatic Update (AU) feature of Windows Update (WU) will offer users of Internet Explorer 9 Beta an upgrade to the Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate. This rollout will start with a narrow audience and expand over the next few days to cover all Internet Explorer 9 Beta users.
