Themes In Outlook Web App (OWA) 2010…

Exchange 2007 came with four built-in themes and a flexibility to customize as well. Seattle Sky, Xbox 360, Zune and Carbon Black. Well, the settings are the same in Exchange 2010, but users can no longer change the theme. The option to change the theme within OWA is missing and Microsoft has confirmed that the feature is not available in this release.

In OWA 2007, you could change the theme to the one of your choice (if it is allowed by the admin in the first place), by navigating to Options –> General Settings –> Appearance Section.

Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Exchange 2010

From September through November, launch events for Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Exchange 2010 are happening across the US.

Boston’s launch event will be on October 5th at the AMC Boston Common 19. (Other regional stops are NYC on October 20 and Philly on September 28.)

The event will feature content for developers and IT pros. Of course the content will be excellent, but as an added bonus, attendees will get a copy of Windows 7!

Microsoft Exchange 2010 buzz grows louder

The release-to-manufacturing (RTM) buzz around Microsoft Exchange 2010 is starting to grow louder. I’m hearing from various partners and customers it could be finalized any time now, maybe even before this month is up.

Exchange Server is directly and indirectly at the crux of a number of new and recently announced products from Microsoft. The company’s Mac Business Unit announced on August 13 that the 2010 version of Mac Office will include Outlook, rather than Entourage, as its new e-mail client. The next Mac Office release also will feature improved Exchange and Exchange Online connectivity, the Softies said.  (Microsoft Mac Office customers who need better Exchange connectivity now can use the just-finalized Entourage Web Services, Microsoft officials said.)
